Glossary for Geospatial Science

MAP-BASE:� A sample HyperIndex available to TNTmips users which graphically cross-indexes the names and geographic locations of approximately 55,000 7.5' and 15' USGS maps covering the U.S. and its territories.� This index begins with a U.S. state map.� Selections with the mouse successively display a state map index, a 1 x 1 degree index with map names displayed, and the name and latitude/longitude location of the specific map.� MAP-BASE is used as the front-end for some user HyperIndexes that retrieve and display the actual scanned maps.� It also is used in processes that retrieve nominal image maps from satellite imagery.
